Frequently Asked Questions
Need a refill?
This is called a chronic conditions check.
What is an annual visit?
An annual visit is a visit reserved for only preventive care: discussing immunizations, cancer screenings (mammogram, colonoscopy, FIT test, pap, skin check), diet, exercise, safety measures and other preventive issues, screening bloodwork if appropriate. An annual visit is not for medication refills or new problems. Please see our types of appointments page for more information.
What is a Chronic Conditions Check?
This is what most people think of as their ‘refill visit‘. Your prescription medication requires monitoring, even if you have been on it for decades. There is a reason it requires a prescription, otherwise it would be over the counter. I recommend booking a Chronic Conditions Check once per year for all refills on stable medical problems/medications to avoid the hassle of multiple visits or the charge of $25 per medication refill without appointment. Please see our office policy page and non-OHIP covered charges section for more information.
What is a New Problem Visit?
This is a visit for a problem that has never been brought up with your physician before. This usually requires its own visit. If the problem is urgent, we always have same-day slots available but if we are closed and you have an urgent medical concern, please call 9-1-1 or visit your nearest emergency department.
